WANT more value for money for the PBX system in your office or home? Find out how at the AsterConference Asia 2010.
To be held on May 18 and 19 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, the conference will show how you can get the best out of Asterisk, a free open source application for making phone calls over the Internet and handling voice mail, caller ID, teleconferencing and a host of other features for the phone.
Asterisk also can be used as a telco-grade switch, call centre system and even integrated with customer relationship management systems.
Many companies are now looking at Asterisk not only because of its cheaper implementation cost compared to traditional PBX systems, but also its richer features, said Vanita Suzanne Gunasekera of SEC Training & Expo Sdn Bhd, the conference organiser.
"Even multinationals have Asterisk running alongside their expensive PBX systems which lack features found in Asterisk. Rather than discard their PBX, they integrate it with Asterisk for a cost- effective upgrade. Loaded onto a computer or server, Asterisk has all the features of a traditional phone system but with no licence fees or software costs."
This year's event will also Chad Barth sharing how he used Asterisk during the 2008 US elections. He will show how the Republican National Committee and John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign processed over 40 million phones calls in six months with just a single handset device and an Asterisk back-end call management system, saving thousands of operational dollars and man- hours.
AsterConference Asia, which is supported by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and the Multimedia Development Corporation, is aimed at company decision-makers, business owners, software developers and call centre operators.
